In the Fairy Garden this morning, Lucy and Hope found a note rolled into a scroll along with a tiny bottle that Lucy received in her Christmas stocking. On Christmas morning, the bottle held Fairy Dust which the girls pretty quickly powered through, but they’ve held onto the bottle in the hopes it would be replenished. This morning’s note read:
Dear Lucy and Grace,
We’ve refilled your jar with Goblin Repellent. This particular Fairy Dust is VERY powerful. Please only follow these instructions if you’re SURE you want the Goblins to leave. Sprinkle a very tiny amount of silver Goblin Repellent Fairy Dust in seven (and ONLY seven) locations in the yard. The first six spots are your choice, but be sure to spread them out. The seventh spot should be directly in front of our door.
Once you’ve done this, any Goblins on your property will disappear. And Goblins outside your property will never enter. Remember, only use this special Goblin Repellent Fairy Dust if you’re sure you want the Goblins to leave. The Goblins will not return.
We may not write to you again for a very long time so we wanted to tell you a few other things:
Eat healthy, go to bed on time, do your homework, never stop learning, help other people, be nice to each other, listen to your parents, run, play, dance, sing, laugh, create, imagine, love, dream and never stop believing.
The Fairies of 15227 Maplethorpe Avenue NorthFawn, Violet & Charity
Goblins forever banished and instructions for the kids to listen to their parents? Is this a dream? These Fairies are amazing!
Maybe next the Fairies will bring Bad-Date-Repellent, Leaky-Radiator-Repellent, Not-Enough-Money-To-Make-It-To-Payday-Repellent…or who knows? Maybe even Heartbreak Repellent. Or Hopelessness Repellent. I’m really warming up this idea.
With so much magic in our own backyard, the possibilities are endless. We Crandlers are a lucky bunch.

I seriously made an audible chuckle at the fairies directive to the kids to eat healthily and go to bed on time etc! This was a delight to read! You are precious! And that photo is stunning!

ReplyDeleteI have "happy tears" streaming down my face right now...thank you LHH!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous note! I am sure both Lucy and Hope were thrilled to get such a wonderful gift!! Lori, you are fabulously fabulous. The picture of the two precious children brings a huge smile across my face! I love, "Never stop learning".....I am still hanging onto that one myself! What a gift you are.
ReplyDeleteWhat great fun. Keep up the great work super mom!!!!
ReplyDeleteMany people around the world believe in spirits that live in the ground, trees, rocks, etc. In Thailand, when you build a house, you first have to put up a spirit house where the displaced spirits can live. They are generally put in the garden. We have ours in our living room because Michigan winters would be hard on the teak spirit house if it were outside.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I read your blogs and posts, I think it's not fair that Lucy and Ben got a mother who brings so much magic and creativity into their lives while so many other kids get stuck with parents like me where everything is so routine and staid. But by sharing your stories of magic and love, a little bit of the magic rubs off on us and makes all of us better parents.
ReplyDeleteRick is right. It's a miracle & a blessing that with todays technology, we are able to stand beside one another, in a great cirle holding hands, no matter how far apart we may be, learning, listening & laughing, taking a bit here & there to help ourselves & each other to become better parents & just better people. Love you, LHH and am so proud of the woman and mother that you are..and so grateful to have you in my world & call you friend.
